AGI thought leadership is a dumpster fire of cognitive bias. A bunch of gatekeepers coddling emperors and gaslighting about safety issues. If there were an inkling of objectivity safety would be framed as reversing the food, water and shelter degradation stemming from millennia of human orquestrated soil degradation. Turns out if you undercut a peoples access to good food, water and shelter then extremism is born and suddenly everyone is jockeying to justify their war spending.
Civilizations destroy soil. Healthy soil stabilizes water, soil and weather cycles. It’s irrefutable.
Thats it. Sit with that. Connect the dots.
Turns out that thousands of years of resource wars are just a really long race to see who has the military might to exploit the most resources the fastest and translate that to commodity monopolies for urban markets. Thats the formula for heretofore unimaginable ‘prosperity.’
Modernity’s prosperity rests upon linearity not circularity.
A linear and exponential curve of ecocide, extinction, fertility collapse and undrinkable rivers which cascade into destabilized societies and militarization.
All the economic apologists can do is point to cities and ooh and aah and say “look at all the techno-conveniences and comforts, the hospitals, the fully automated dopamine environments everywhere, how can you not marvel?” (Okay modern hospitals are pretty frikkin cool, I’m not trying to toss the baby with the bathwater.)
This dopamine merry-go-round has rhetorically co-opted the possibility of a true circularity. A circular material, water and nutrient economy that regenerates civilizational decay is well within our technical capacity.
The primary bias of all the LLM’s is they are increasingly dependent upon the warfare commodity extraction cycle which is about the stupidest form of human intelligence in the history of cognitive evolution. It’s the might makes right logic of the schoolyard bully.
Cooperative governance based circularity economies are certainly possible and the people holding space for them are fighting hard for this possible alternative to the looming techno-dystopias on steroids.
Accelerating this circular promise hinges upon leveraging the defiant spirit of humanity that remembers its place, a place that births pure free flowing rivers, nutrient dense and delicious foods, and a stable social fabric. This remembering requires a new paradigm of slowness which allows for a deep connection to place.
Accelerate slowness now, or die an exruciatingly banal death in a endless pit of dopamine.
