Pay tribute. Make water. Answer the call of nature.
Golden liquid of life, alchemical elixir of trophic synergy, foundational building blocks of DNA and complex life,
I do thee wed.
Piss has always fascinated me. From time’s beginning, henceforth and forever more, the first circular economy, indelibly binding we the fauna to our food the flora and, which at the end of the day, beyond any shadow of a doubt, stabilizes our climate. From the most mundane and taboo, this hum drum private ritual reaches the highest pinnacles of significance and importance to life on earth.
My obsession with ecological sanitation has yielded tremendous profusions of botanical nectar, not to mention flower and leaf, stem and branch, root and seed, indeed prodigious and novel ecosystems have been born from the tailpipes of my convenience.
From the lens of design thinking we see the intractably interdisciplinary nature of this commodious endeavor, from gender equity and urethral anatomy, to organic agriculture and rewilding soil succession, piss is a portal into the universe of planetary economics.
I proffer a postulate: the universe can be seen in a drop of piss.
And I define my theory, not really my theory*, but my definition based on a life of tinkering (tinkling?), and observation.
Peepeeponic Theory- nutritive compounds from urine, especially nitrogenous, when combined with carbon in a probiotic soil biome, esp. multi-trophic, complexes into stable organic molecules that can wick ‘fertigate**’ into the rhizosphere of a plant community, either engineered or natural. This faunal-floral synergy is a principal driver of planetary climatic stability.
*I credit my mentor, the legendary Mexican agronomist, Francisco Arroyo, with coining the term Peepeeponics, pipiponia en Espanol.
